- GÖCH | Veranstaltungen | Object Odyssey: Exploring the (Inter)national Journey of Heritage Objects by Nuclear Analytical Techniques
Erfahren Sie mehr über Object Odyssey: Exploring the (Inter)national Journey of Heritage Objects by Nuclear Analytical Techniques Zurück Wien / online 17. September 2025 Object Odyssey: Exploring the (Inter)national Journey of Heritage Objects by Nuclear Analytical Techniques Cultural heritage objects can be found across the world, far from their place of origin. Their journey reflects the migration of people, trade routes, cultural exchange or looting and is an important part of the object’s biography. When historical sources are not present or incomplete, or cultural knowledge lost, the material characterization of the object has an advantage. This session will present several success stories like tracing the origins of materials and understanding ancient pigment exchange that demonstrate where nuclear techniques have become indispensable tools for heritage science. This event is organized by the Kingdom of the Netherlands and France within the “Atoms for Heritage” initiative. More information IAEA-side-event-Odyssey-final .pdf PDF herunterladen • 9.50MB

- GÖCH | Veranstaltungen | Protein Dynamics as a Stabilizing Force
Erfahren Sie mehr über Protein Dynamics as a Stabilizing Force Zurück Linz 25. September 2025 Protein Dynamics as a Stabilizing Force Protein dynamics as a stabilizing force Prof. Kaare Teilum (University of Copenhagen, Denmark) Thursday, 25 September 2025 16:00 Johannes Kepler University Linz Room: KG 519 Using an E. coli based in-cell stability assay we have selected a super-stabilized variant of chymotrypsin inhibitor 2 (CI2) carrying two point mutations. This double mutant is significantly more stable than the sum of the effects of the two individual single point mutations. To understand the underlying mechanism for this synergistic effect we have made a thorough analysis of the structural and dynamical changes occurring as a result of the mutations. NMR relaxation measurements show that the stability change correlate with the change in conformational entropy. Our results demonstrate that changes in dynamics distributed throughout the protein are hard to predict but may contribute significantly to protein stability.
